The bill amends Section 38-3-4 of the General Laws in Chapter 38-3, which pertains to the duties of the administrator of the public records management program. It introduces a new responsibility for the administrator to create and adopt a uniform statewide access to public records request form, and to promulgate consistent standards for the use of this form that is applicable to all public bodies, consistent with the provisions of chapter 2 of title 38 (access to public records).

Additionally, the bill removes the previous provision that allowed the administrator to perform other functions and duties as directed by the secretary, replacing it with the new requirement to implement the standardized request form. The act is set to take effect upon passage.
