It mandates that any group health insurer or health maintenance organization providing coverage for prescription drugs must offer a minimum of two options for the delivery of these drugs. Additionally, the bill prohibits insurers from requiring individuals to obtain their prescription drugs exclusively from a mail order pharmacy as a condition for receiving benefits.

The changes include the insertion of new language that clarifies these requirements, replacing previous provisions that allowed insurers to mandate mail order pharmacy use. The act will take effect immediately upon passage.
