The bill amends Chapter 42-28.6 of the General Laws, known as the "Law Enforcement Officers Due Process, Accountability, and Transparency Act," by adding a new section, 42-28.6-19, which prohibits law enforcement agencies from employing any individual who was hired as a sworn officer of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency on or after January 20, 2025. This prohibition applies prospectively only and does not affect individuals hired by the agency prior to the effective date of this section. The act is set to take effect on October 1, 2026.
