The bill amends Section 42-28.2-8 of the General Laws concerning the Police Officers Commission on Standards and Training. It establishes an equivalency of training certification program within the municipal police training academy, allowing for the certification of candidates who meet specific criteria. These criteria include having worked at least one year, full-time as a sworn law enforcement officer, having received training comparable to the standards set forth in the existing law, and having no more than an eight-year break in service since their last separation from a sworn law enforcement position.
