The bill amends the "Unfair Claims Settlement Practices Act" by raising the threshold for requiring an appraisal by a licensed appraiser from $2,500 to $5,000 in damages. It eliminates the restriction that appraisals cannot be based on photographs of damaged vehicles, allowing for greater flexibility in the appraisal process. Additionally, the bill extends the timeframe for insurers to conduct appraisals from three business days to four business days after a request is made.

The act will take effect upon passage.
