The bill amends Section 39-26-6 of the General Laws in Chapter 39-26, which pertains to the Renewable Energy Standard. It introduces new responsibilities for the Public Utilities Commission (PUC), including the requirement to make public notifications regarding any changes in the eligibility status or energy production of renewable energy generators. The commission is also tasked with promulgating rules and regulations to facilitate the prompt public disclosure of this information.

Additionally, the bill establishes a new duty for the commission to assess the adequacy of renewable energy supplies every five years, starting January 1, 2027. If the commission determines that there is an inadequacy of supplies for scheduled percentage increases, it may delay all or part of the implementation of those increases until adequate supplies are available.

The act will take effect upon passage.
