The Rhode Island Senate has introduced a resolution, SR 2193, to celebrate the life of Carrigan McCorrie-Raine Nelson and extend condolences to her family following her passing. Carrigan, the daughter of Tammy and Paul Nelson, was a courageous young woman who battled Osteosarcoma for seven years. Despite her illness, she lived life with positivity and determination, excelling in music and Taekwondo, and actively supporting charitable causes, particularly those related to childhood cancer awareness. Her achievements included performing the National Anthem for the Boston Red Sox Jimmy Fund Radio Telethon and being recognized as the 2025 RI Communities Choice "Person of the Year."

The resolution highlights Carrigan's impact on her community and the legacy she leaves behind, including her family, friends, and her musical partner. It acknowledges her spirit, talent, and the inspiration she provided to those around her. The Senate expresses its deepest sympathy to her family and directs the Secretary of State to send a certified copy of the resolution to her parents, honoring Carrigan's memory and contributions to society. The resolution was introduced by Senator Linda L. Ujifusa on January 22 and is recommended for immediate consideration.
