The bill amends Section 28-9.1-17 of the General Laws regarding "Firefighters' Arbitration." It provides that all contractual provisions in a firefighters' collective bargaining agreement will continue until a successor agreement has been reached between the parties or an interest arbitration award has been rendered. The previous language, which required either the bargaining agent or corporate authority to propose changes within a specified thirty-day period, has been removed. This act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
