This act would validate and ratify amendments to the Home Rule Charter of the town of Hopkinton, which amendments were adopted and approved by the electors of the town of Hopkinton on November 5, 2024. The act ensures that any provisions of these amendments requiring legislative ratification, confirmation, validation, or enactment are officially recognized and enacted. It clarifies that the act does not diminish the powers granted to cities and towns under the Home Rule amendment and other relevant laws in Rhode Island, nor does it affect the rights retained by Hopkinton in its Home Rule Charter. The act includes a severability clause, stating that if any part of the act is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions will still be effective. This act would take effect upon passage.
