This bill is designed to validate and ratify the amendments to the Home Rule Charter of the city of Woonsocket that were approved by the electors of the city on November 5, 2024. The General Assembly intends to ensure that these amendments are given effect as required. The act does not diminish the powers granted to towns or cities under the home rule amendment and other applicable laws in Rhode Island, nor does it affect the rights retained by Woonsocket in its Home Rule Charter.

Additionally, the bill includes a severability clause, stating that if any provision of the act is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions will still be effective. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
