The Rhode Island General Assembly has introduced a resolution to celebrate and honor the 240th Bristol Fourth of July Celebration, scheduled for 2025. This event, which has been a proud tradition since 1785, is recognized as the oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration in the United States. The upcoming celebration will include a variety of activities such as concerts, cultural events, visiting ships, and the renowned Fourth of July Parade, aimed at uniting individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

The resolution acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the Bristol Fourth of July Committee and the numerous volunteers who contribute to the event's success. Key figures recognized in the resolution include Camille Teixeira, the General Chair of the Committee; Captain Dick Devault, the Chief Marshal for 2025; and Ava Valenzuela and Scarlett Tucker, who hold the titles of Miss Fourth of July and Little Miss Fourth of July, respectively. The Senate has directed the Secretary of State to send certified copies of the resolution to these individuals in recognition of their contributions.
