The bill amends the "Outdoor Dining Act" by introducing a new section that allows food service establishments to provide temporary outdoor dining services when their buildings are rendered uninhabitable due to casualties such as fire or flood. This temporary service can be offered for a period of up to eighteen (18) months from the date of approval received from the city or town council, or until the building or structure is rehabilitated and made fit for occupancy. The temporary outdoor dining area must comply with applicable state health and life safety regulations. This provision permits the temporary outdoor dining service notwithstanding any conflicting municipal ordinances, including zoning or planning regulations, and allows the use of existing liquor licenses in conjunction with the outdoor dining service.

Additionally, the bill includes a sunset clause stating that these provisions will expire on June 30, 2027, unless extended by the General Assembly. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
