The Rhode Island House of Representatives has passed a resolution congratulating Joseph Hicks for winning the 2024 American Trucking Association (ATA) National Truck Driving Championship in the 4-Axle Tractor Trailer Class. Hicks, a resident of Johnston, has an impressive track record in truck driving competitions, having been named the 2010 Truck Driving Championship Rookie of the Year and a six-time Rhode Island Truck Driving Championship Grand Champion. His recent victory at the national level in Indianapolis marks him as the first Rhode Islander to achieve this honor, further complemented by his milestone of one million accident-free miles.

The resolution highlights Hicks' dedication to the trucking industry and acknowledges the vital support he receives from his wife, Barbara, who assists him in his preparation and practice. The House expresses its pride in Hicks as a representative of Rhode Island and wishes him continued success as he aims to defend his championship title in 2025. A certified copy of the resolution will be sent to Mr. Joseph Hicks to commemorate his achievement.
