The Rhode Island House of Representatives has introduced a resolution to recognize May 30, 2025, as "World MS Day" in the state. This initiative aims to raise awareness about Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a neurological disease that affects approximately 2.9 million people globally, including around 2,319 adults in Rhode Island. The resolution highlights the importance of increasing awareness about MS, which primarily impacts individuals between the ages of 20 and 50, and acknowledges the ongoing efforts of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in researching the disease and advocating for those affected.

The resolution expresses appreciation for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's commitment to finding a cure and improving the lives of those living with MS. It notes the Society's significant investment in research, totaling over $1 billion, which has contributed to advancements in treatment and understanding of the disease. The House of Representatives encourages all Rhode Islanders to support the mission of the Society to stop MS, restore lost functions, and ultimately end the disease. A certified copy of the resolution will be sent to Mr. Peter Porrino, Chairman of the Board of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
