The resolution recognizes and congratulates the Wheeler School team for their impressive 1st place victory at the 42nd Rhode Island Academic Decathlon, held on March 2, 2025, at Bryant University. This annual competition, co-founded by John Howell in 1983, challenges high school students from various schools across the state in ten subject areas, including art, math, and social science. The Wheeler School team, led by Coach Dayna Cueva Alegria, scored over 34,000 points, reclaiming the top title for the first time since 2008. Notable individual achievements include Gold medals for team members Philip Spradlin in Art and Social Science, and Promise Egunjobi in Math, along with several other medals awarded to team members.
