The Rhode Island House of Representatives has introduced a resolution to officially proclaim May 22, 2025, as "Rhode Island Community Health Center Day." This resolution recognizes the significant contributions of Community Health Centers in the state, which have been providing high-quality, affordable, and comprehensive health care services for over fifty years. These centers serve more than 200,000 Rhode Islanders, offering a range of services including medical, dental, and behavioral health care, as well as additional support such as language interpretation and transportation. The resolution highlights the employment of over 2,148 health care professionals and the economic impact generated by these centers, which created 3,408 jobs and contributed over $545 million in economic activity in 2021.

The resolution also emphasizes the governance structure of Community Health Centers, which are overseen by patient-majority boards to ensure they effectively address the needs of the communities they serve. By designating May 22, 2025, as a day to celebrate the legacy and ongoing role of these centers in Rhode Island's health care system, the resolution aims to honor their contributions to public health and community well-being. The Secretary of State is tasked with transmitting certified copies of the resolution to the various Community Health Centers across the state.

Introduced by Representatives Giraldo, Shekarchi, Blazejewski, Chippendale, and Voas, the resolution was read and passed in the House on May 22.
