The resolution recognizes New Bridges for Haitian Success, a nonprofit organization founded in 2013 in Providence, Rhode Island, by Bernard Georges. The organization is dedicated to assisting Haitians as they adapt to life in Rhode Island, addressing their concerns and needs while fostering connections with elected officials and the broader community. New Bridges for Haitian Success provides essential services, including guidance on navigating the American immigration system, access to healthcare, housing, employment, food assistance, and adult education programs to help individuals transition from their native languages to English.

To support these efforts, the resolution appropriates $850,000 for the fiscal year 2025-2026 specifically for the acquisition of residential property intended for transitional housing. This housing will benefit immigrants with temporary protected status (TPS) and asylum status, ensuring they have a safe and supportive environment as they establish their new lives in the community. The state controller is authorized to manage the disbursement of these funds as needed.
