The bill amends Section 45-2-35.2 of the General Laws in Chapter 45-2, which pertains to the general powers of towns, specifically addressing the landing fee for the town of Narragansett. The legislation increases the landing fee charged to passengers over the age of twelve arriving at the Port of Galilee from fifty cents ($0.50) to one dollar ($1.00). This fee will be collected from passengers arriving by public or private boat, with the exception of vessels engaged in commercial fishing.

The funds collected from this fee, after deducting any collection expenses, will be used to enhance the health, safety, and welfare of passengers, including emergency medical services and property acquisition to support ferry passengers. Additionally, the bill allows the town of Narragansett to enter into agreements with common carriers and marina operators to facilitate the collection of the landing fee, which can be included in the fare charged to adult passengers without needing approval from the public utilities commission.

The town council is tasked with creating rules and regulations to implement this fee structure. The act will take effect upon passage.
