This bill amends the existing law that incorporates the Western Coventry Fire District by establishing new requirements for any potential merger, consolidation, or transition of the district. Specifically, it prohibits the district from being merged, joined, consolidated, transitioned, or otherwise made a part of the municipal fire department of the Town of Coventry, or consolidated with any other fire district without an all-day referendum and the affirmative vote of the district's electors. The voting process will be supervised by the Board of Directors.

Additionally, the bill stipulates that the all-day referendum must be called in the same manner as Special Meetings of the District, as set forth in Section 6 of the current law. This amendment aims to provide greater control to the electors of the Western Coventry Fire District regarding any significant changes to their fire services. The act will take effect immediately upon its passage.
