The resolution congratulates Joseph Pratt on his retirement after eleven years of service as the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County (BGCNC). Under his leadership, the organization transformed from a struggling entity with a $250,000 deficit and only five full-time staff members in 2014 to a thriving club with 25 full-time staff, serving over 2,000 members annually and operating with a budget of $3.5 million. Mr. Pratt's tenure included significant achievements such as the club's attainment of a top 5-star rating from BrightStars, diversification of revenue streams, and the implementation of effective programs that enhanced the club's impact on youth.

The resolution also highlights Mr. Pratt's leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he navigated regulatory challenges to protect and reopen the summer camp. His efforts resulted in nearly $15 million raised for the expansion and restoration of the Central Clubhouse, furthering the club's outreach and impact in the Newport community. In recognition of his contributions, Mr. Pratt has held prestigious positions, including appointments to the National Planning Commission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and serving as Chair of the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce. The House of Representatives expresses gratitude for his dedication and wishes him success in his future endeavors.
