The bill amends the existing law that incorporates the Western Coventry Fire District by establishing new requirements for any potential merger, consolidation, or transition of the district. Specifically, it mandates that the district shall not be merged, joined, consolidated, transitioned, or otherwise made a part of the municipal fire department of the Town of Coventry, or consolidated with any other fire district without an all-day referendum and the affirmative vote of the district's electors. This vote must be supervised by the Board of Directors.

Additionally, the bill specifies that the process for calling the all-day referendum shall follow the same procedures as those for Special Meetings of the District, as set forth in Section 6 of the current law. This amendment aims to ensure that any significant changes to the structure of the Western Coventry Fire District are subject to direct approval from its electors. The act will take effect immediately upon passage.
