The resolution celebrates the 20th anniversary of PACE-RI, a nonprofit healthcare plan established in 2005 to support low-income seniors in living independently at home rather than in nursing facilities. With centers located in East Providence, Newport, Westerly, and Woonsocket, PACE-RI provides a comprehensive range of services, including primary and acute care, pharmacy, behavioral health, rehabilitation, home care, transportation, adult day services, and meals. The program has successfully enabled 450 medically complex participants to remain in their homes for an average of four additional years compared to those not enrolled in PACE-RI, resulting in significant savings for Rhode Island taxpayers.

The resolution highlights the positive impact of PACE-RI on its participants, who typically face multiple health challenges, including behavioral health issues and dementia. Over its two decades of service, PACE-RI has assisted more than 2,000 individuals, leading to fewer emergency room visits and hospitalizations among its enrollees. The resolution expresses gratitude for the high-quality healthcare services provided by PACE-RI and acknowledges the improvement in independence and quality of life experienced by the majority of its participants. It concludes by directing the Secretary of State to send a certified copy of the resolution to Mr. Thomas Boucher, Chief of External Affairs at PACE-RI.
