The bill amends Chapter 45-53 of the General Laws regarding "Low and Moderate Income Housing" by adding a new section, 45-53-17, specifically for the town of Tiverton. This new section permits Tiverton to require two (2) parking spaces for each studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom low- or moderate-income housing unit. This requirement can be enforced upon the municipality's determination that there is limited or no local public transportation or off-street parking availability within a reasonable proximity to these housing units. The act will take effect immediately upon its passage.
