The bill amends Section 27-7-6 of the General Laws in Chapter 27-7, titled "Liability Insurance," to introduce new provisions regarding rental vehicle coverage. It establishes that whenever a claimant's vehicle is damaged in an accident, the at-fault insurance company shall provide, at its expense, a rental vehicle that is reasonably comparable in quality to the claimant's damaged vehicle. Additionally, the rental charges for this vehicle must be based on local retail prices reasonably available to consumers at the date and time the claimant rents the vehicle. This provision aims to ensure that claimants have access to a suitable replacement vehicle while their own is being repaired or replaced. The act will take effect upon passage.
