It highlights the significance of the French language, spoken by approximately 310 million people globally, and acknowledges Rhode Island's rich French heritage, with over 124,000 residents of French descent, including 9,500 who are proficient in French.

The resolution also recognizes the contributions of the Alliance Française of Providence, a cultural center established in 1901 that fosters French language and culture within the community. With over 250 members, the Alliance offers various programs, including language classes and cultural events, which enhance Rhode Island's cultural and economic diversity. The House of Representatives expresses its support for the celebration of La Francophonie and directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to the Alliance Française de Providence.
