The Rhode Island Senate has introduced a resolution, SR 882, congratulating the winners of the 13th Annual ProStart High School Competition, which took place in February. This event, hosted by the Rhode Island Hospitality Education Foundation, featured six local teams competing for $700,000 in scholarship money and the opportunity to represent Rhode Island at the National ProStart Invitational in Baltimore, Maryland. The competition included three areas: Culinary Arts, Foodservice Management, and Hospitality Tourism Management, with over fifty industry professionals serving as judges.
The resolution specifically recognizes the achievements of the top competitors, including the first-place Culinary Team from William M. Davies, Jr. Career and Technical High School, consisting of Bobbi Calder, Abigail Grullon, and Aliyah Dantzler, as well as the first-place Foodservice Management Team from the same school, Kenadee Houle and Adrianny Jimenez. Additionally, the first-place Hospitality and Tourism Management Team from Chariho Area Career & Technical Center, comprising Gavin Apice, Molley Kennedy, Morgan Allen, Olivia Swanson, and Juliet Costa, is acknowledged. The Senate extends its congratulations and best wishes to the winning teams as they prepare to compete at the national level.
