The resolution honors Saint Joseph, the Holy Patriarch and Patron Saint of Workers, for his quiet courage, deep faith, and the strength he exhibited as a family patriarch and guardian. It acknowledges the global celebration of Saint Joseph by Christians, including in the Philippines, Rome, and San Juan Capistrano, and highlights his embodiment of family solidarity as a dedicated, humble, and hardworking father and husband. The resolution also notes the annual Feast of Saint Joseph on March 19th, where Italian-Americans and others aim to emulate his peaceful and faithful nature, as well as the historical significance of Saint Joseph in preventing a famine in Sicily during the Middle Ages, which is celebrated by Italians and Italian-Americans as a miracle.

The House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island officially commemorates the Feast of St. Joseph and the values represented by his life. The resolution directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to the Italian American Historical Society of Rhode Island, thereby recognizing the contributions of Italian immigrants to the cultural foundation of the state and celebrating their continued reverence for Saint Joseph as a symbol of inclusion, faith-tempered strength, familial sacrifice, and the value of honest labor.
