The Rhode Island General Assembly has introduced a resolution, SR 760, to celebrate the 4th Annual "RI Craft Beer Week," which will take place from March 7th to March 16th. This event highlights the significant growth of the craft beer industry in the state, which has expanded from five breweries a decade ago to fifty today, offering over 150 unique craft beer selections. The craft brewing sector has become a vital part of Rhode Island's economy, contributing approximately $876 million annually in wages and benefits and supporting over 7,161 jobs. Additionally, breweries are revitalizing local communities and commercial districts, enhancing the state's economic landscape.
This year's theme for "RI Craft Beer Week" is "We've got you covered from head to toe," featuring giveaways of unique merchandise and the introduction of a new collaborative beer, an 8.2 ABV Hazy Double IPA. The week will also include various festivities such as live music, Bingo, Armed Forces & Families Night, a singles event, and a comedy show. The resolution expresses the Senate's support for the craft beer industry and its continued growth, and it directs the Secretary of State to send a certified copy of the resolution to the Executive Director of the RI Brewers Guild.
Introduced by Senator Melissa A. Murray on March 11, the resolution has been recommended for immediate consideration.
