The bill amends Section 9-1-51 of the General Laws in Chapter 9-1, which pertains to causes of action related to sexual abuse or exploitation of a child. The key change introduced by this bill is that all claims or causes of action for damages resulting from sexual abuse shall not be subject to any statute of limitations, regardless of whether the claim may have lapsed or was previously time-barred under earlier versions of the law. This applies to claims against any party, including those related to negligent supervision or other conduct contributing to the abuse.

The bill specifies that claims and causes of action include, but are not limited to, sexual abuse of a minor, negligent supervision of a person who sexually abuses a minor, and wrongful conduct related to the supervision, hiring, employment, training, monitoring, or failure to report and/or concealment of sexual abuse of a minor.

The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
