The bill amends Section 37-25-1 of the General Laws regarding corrosion prevention and mitigation work requirements. It establishes that the Department of Labor and Training shall enforce the provisions of this chapter. If a violation is determined, the director or designee will order a hearing, providing notice and an opportunity for the affected parties to be heard. The hearing officer will have the authority to issue subpoenas, administer oaths, and examine witnesses, with a determination to be made within thirty days of the hearing's close.
Contractors or subcontractors found to have violated the provisions of this chapter will be subject to civil penalties ranging from $1,500 to $3,000, and may face revocation of any relevant professional or occupational license if the violation is deemed intentional or egregious. This section applies to all public works projects that meet the specified criteria. The act is set to take effect upon passage.
