The bill amends Section 5-19.1-31 of the General Laws in Chapter 5-19.1, which pertains to pharmacies, to include the administration of COVID-19 immunizations alongside influenza immunizations for individuals aged nine to eighteen years, inclusive. It stipulates that parental consent is required for all pharmacist-administered immunizations for individuals under eighteen. Additionally, pharmacists authorized to administer these immunizations must electronically report all administered immunizations to the Department of Health within seven days and notify the patient's primary care provider within fourteen days, if known. The bill also mandates that pharmacists make a good-faith effort to identify a patient's primary care provider for reporting purposes. If a patient does not have a primary care provider, the pharmacist is still required to fulfill the reporting requirements. This act will take effect upon passage.
