The House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island has passed a resolution expressing gratitude to Victor M. Mendoza for his over forty years of dedicated public service to the Hispanic community in the state. Born in the Dominican Republic, Mendoza immigrated to the United States in 1969 and settled in Providence, where he worked multiple jobs while pursuing his education. He became the first Latino Employment Counselor in Rhode Island after completing a training program and later earned a Bachelor's degree in Human Services from New Hampshire College.
Throughout his career, Mendoza has been instrumental in founding and co-founding several key organizations that have significantly impacted the Hispanic community, including The Coalition of Hispanic Organizations of Rhode Island and The Hispanic Cultural Arts Committee of Rhode Island. His efforts have helped promote cultural awareness and political representation for Latinos in the state. The resolution formally acknowledges his contributions and directs the Secretary of State to provide him with a certified copy of the resolution as a token of appreciation.
