The resolution honors Dr. Juana Parillon, a Dominican-American and distinguished Marine Corps veteran who immigrated to the United States at the age of five. Raised in a working-class community, she embodies the values of hard work, humility, honesty, and trust. Dr. Parillon served for over two decades in various leadership roles within the Marine Corps, notably as one of only 37 Equal Opportunity Advisors (EOA) where she developed training programs, conducted organizational surveys, and oversaw dispute resolutions. She founded the Mentors in Action program in Albany, Georgia, which engaged Marines in mentoring local children, earning her recognition with Albany's Forty Under 40 Award.
In addition to her military service, Dr. Parillon is a sought-after public speaker, mediator, and conflict resolution consultant, working across various sectors including non-profit, corporate, military, and higher education. She holds multiple degrees, including a Doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and has authored several articles while working on future publications. The resolution concludes by formally recognizing her nearly forty years of exemplary service to the nation and directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to her.
