The bill amends the Rhode Island Uniform Commercial Driver's License Act by adding a new section that mandates education and training on human trafficking for commercial driver instruction. Specifically, it requires that any trade school or education program offering instruction in the operation of commercial motor vehicles must include industry-specific training on the recognition, prevention, and reporting of human trafficking as part of their curriculum. The office of the postsecondary commissioner is responsible for ensuring that these instruction requirements are met. Additionally, the postsecondary commissioner, in collaboration with organizations that specialize in the recognition and prevention of human trafficking, shall annually review and update the training to reflect changes and trends in human trafficking. This act will take effect upon passage.
