The bill amends Section 12-29-8 of the Domestic Violence Prevention Act to enhance the reporting requirements for law enforcement officers responding to domestic violence incidents. It introduces a new requirement for officers to complete a domestic violence/sexual assault reporting form for all incidents, including verbal arguments or disputes, regardless of whether an arrest is made. The bill also updates the process for submitting these reports, transferring the responsibility from the court system to the administrative office of state courts, and mandates that law enforcement agencies electronically submit the forms and corresponding police report narratives monthly.

Additionally, the bill expands the information that must be included in the reporting forms, adding new data points such as the existence of language barriers and felony enhancement notations, while removing the previous requirement to report leading circumstances to an arrest. The law enforcement departments are required to submit reports for ongoing investigations or unexecuted arrest warrants as soon as practicable, but no later than the end of the calendar year in which the incident occurred. This act will take effect upon passage.
