The bill amends Chapter 5-91 of the General Laws, titled "Interstate Medical Licensure Compact," by adding a new section, 5-91-26, which requires the state to complete all necessary membership requirements for the Compact by July 1, 2025. Additionally, it introduces a new chapter, Chapter 104, under Title 23, titled "Telemedicine and Out-of-State Medicine." This chapter ensures that all in-state residents have access to telemedicine services in accordance with chapter 81 of title 27 and allows patients to receive telemedicine services from out-of-state providers who register with the department of health.
Prior to providing services under this chapter, out-of-state medical providers must register with the department of health. The department of health and the office of health insurance commissioner are tasked with implementing rules and regulations as necessary to carry out the provisions of this section. The act will take effect upon passage.
