The bill amends Section 5-65-5 of the General Laws in Chapter 5-65, which pertains to the Contractors’ Registration and Licensing Board. The amendment includes a new requirement for contractor registration applicants to submit a legible copy of a valid government-issued identification. This new requirement is inserted into the existing law, which already mandates the submission of various other pieces of information such as workers' compensation insurance account number, unemployment insurance account number, state withholding tax account number, federal employer identification number, and details about the business structure and ownership.

Additionally, the bill outlines that providing false information or failing to provide necessary information on an application can result in a fine of up to $10,000, denial or revocation of registration, or both. It also specifies that new applicants must show proof of completing five hours of pre-registration education, while those renewing their registration must show proof of completing two and a half hours of continuing education. A certification form issued by the board must be completed and signed by the registrant for both new registrations and renewals. The act is set to take effect upon passage.
