The bill amends Chapter 31-27 of the General Laws, titled "Motor Vehicle Offenses," by introducing a new section, 31-27-26, which establishes a procedure for motorists who receive moving violations that can be paid without a court appearance. Under this new provision, any motorist who receives a moving violation and pays the fine in full within thirty (30) days of its issuance shall not have the violation recorded on their driving record; provided, however, that this procedure may not be utilized more than twice in one year. The act will take effect upon passage.
