The bill amends Section 5-19.1-31 of the General Laws concerning the administration of immunizations by pharmacists. It expands the age range for which pharmacists can administer influenza and COVID-19 immunizations from individuals aged nine to eighteen years to those aged three to eighteen years, inclusive. Parental consent remains mandatory for all immunizations administered to individuals under eighteen. Additionally, pharmacists are required to electronically report all administered immunizations to the Department of Health within seven days and notify the patient's primary care provider within fourteen days, if known. The bill emphasizes the importance of pharmacists making a good-faith effort to identify a patient's primary care provider for reporting purposes. If a patient does not have a primary care provider, the pharmacist must still comply with the reporting requirements. This act is set to take effect upon passage.
