The resolution congratulates Cranston Police Chief Colonel Michael J. Winquist on his induction into the Rhode Island Criminal Justice Hall of Fame, Class of 2024. Chief Winquist has had a distinguished 35-year career in law enforcement, beginning with the Rhode Island State Police, where he served for 24 years and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel/Deputy Superintendent. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership, integrity, and dedication to public safety, leading significant investigations against organized crime and developing the State's Fusion Center to enhance intelligence sharing among law enforcement agencies.

Since becoming the Chief of Police in Cranston in 2014, Chief Winquist has implemented numerous reforms to improve public safety and has been recognized for his innovative use of technology in law enforcement. He holds degrees in Administration of Justice and has completed the FBI National Academy program. The resolution expresses gratitude for his service and contributions to the safety of Rhode Island's communities and directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to him.
