The Senate of the State of Rhode Island expresses its profound sorrow over the passing of Hilding T. Munson, who was a devoted husband to Judith A. Munson for 48 years. Hilding was a distinguished veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea during the Vietnam War era, and he was a dedicated public servant throughout his life. His career included roles as a paper carrier, a florist delivery person, a Rhode Island State Correctional Officer, and a State Sheriff, where he retired with the rank of Sergeant. Notably, he dedicated 63 years to the Snug Harbor Volunteer Fire Department, serving as Captain for two decades and currently as President.

In addition to his professional achievements, Hilding Munson was deeply committed to his community, volunteering with the Special Olympics for over fifty years and actively participating in local veterans' activities. He was a man of faith, involved with Christ the King Church in Kingston. Hilding is survived by his wife, children, sisters, and a nephew, and the Senate resolution conveys heartfelt condolences to the Munson family during this difficult time. The Secretary of State is directed to send a certified copy of the resolution to Judith A. Munson and her family.
