The Senate of the State of Rhode Island expresses profound sadness over the passing of James W. Ozanian, who was a dedicated husband to Barbara Ozanian for 43 years. Born in Boston and a longtime resident of Woonsocket, Mr. Ozanian was a committed family man and a hardworking Postal Clerk for the United States Postal Service for over 32 years. He also served as the Past President of the American Postal Workers Union in Rhode Island. A United States Navy Veteran, he honorably served during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Hoel and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his service.
In addition to his professional and military accomplishments, Mr. Ozanian was an active member of his community, participating in organizations such as Cercle Laurier and the Manville Sportsmen’s Club. He cherished spending time with his family, friends, and enjoyed motorcycle trips with his wife, including a memorable cross-country journey. Mr. Ozanian is survived by his wife, children, and nine grandchildren. The Senate extends its deepest condolences to his family and directs the Secretary of State to send a certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Barbara Ozanian and her family.
