The resolution recognizes February 8, 2025, as "Carrigan Nelson Day" in honor of Carrigan Nelson, a young woman who has shown remarkable courage and resilience in her battle against osteosarcoma, a rare pediatric bone cancer. Since her diagnosis in 2019, Carrigan has inspired many, including fellow cancer patients, with her strength, compassion, and determination. She has faced numerous challenges over the past six years, including multiple surgeries and five battles with cancer, yet she continues to spread hope and positivity within her community.

In addition to her personal fight, Carrigan has actively advocated for pediatric cancer awareness and funding, lobbying Congress twice and serving on several nonprofit boards dedicated to the cause. The resolution serves as a reminder for everyone to embody the spirit of perseverance and hope that Carrigan represents, encouraging individuals to never give up in the face of adversity. The House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island has authorized the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to Carrigan Nelson, celebrating her impact and the strength of all "Cancer Warriors."
