The Rhode Island General Assembly has introduced a resolution to proclaim February 8, 2025, as "Carrigan Nelson Day" in honor of Carrigan Nelson, a young woman who has demonstrated remarkable courage and resilience in her battle against osteosarcoma, a rare pediatric bone cancer. Since her diagnosis in 2019, Carrigan has inspired many, including fellow cancer patients, through her strength and determination. She has faced numerous challenges over the past six years, including multiple surgeries and five battles with cancer, while actively raising awareness and advocating for pediatric cancer funding.
The resolution highlights the significance of Carrigan's story as a source of hope for individuals facing similar challenges. It serves as a reminder of the importance of perseverance and living each day with purpose. The House of Representatives has authorized the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Carrigan Nelson, recognizing her contributions and the spirit of all "Cancer Warriors."
