The Rhode Island General Assembly has introduced a resolution to proclaim February 8, 2025, as "Carrigan Nelson Day" in honor of Carrigan Nelson, a young woman who has demonstrated remarkable courage and resilience in her battle against osteosarcoma, a rare pediatric bone cancer. Since her diagnosis in 2019, Carrigan has inspired many, including fellow cancer patients, with her strength and determination. She has faced numerous challenges over the past six years, including multiple surgeries, while actively raising awareness for pediatric cancer and advocating for funding by lobbying Congress.

The resolution highlights the significance of Carrigan's story as a source of hope and encouragement for individuals facing similar battles. It serves as a reminder to persevere and to live each day with purpose and positivity. The House of Representatives has authorized the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to Carrigan Nelson, recognizing her contributions and the spirit of all "Cancer Warriors."
