The bill amends Section 5-19.1-31 of the General Laws concerning pharmacies, specifically expanding the scope of immunizations that pharmacists can administer. It now includes both influenza and COVID-19 immunizations for individuals aged three to eighteen years, replacing the previous age requirement of nine to eighteen years. Parental consent remains mandatory for all immunizations administered to individuals under eighteen.

Additionally, pharmacists are required to electronically report all administered immunizations to the Department of Health within seven days and notify the patient's primary care provider within fourteen days, if known. The bill mandates that the Department of Health's regulations ensure pharmacists make a good-faith effort to identify a patient's primary care provider for reporting purposes. If a patient does not have a primary care provider, the pharmacist must still comply with the reporting requirements. This act will take effect upon passage.
