The bill amends Chapter 21-28.9 of the General Laws, known as "The Good Samaritan Overdose Prevention Act of 2016," by introducing a new section titled "Training to administer opioid antagonists." This new provision mandates that all lifeguards and park and forest rangers employed at state or municipal public beaches or facilities receive training in the administration of opioid antagonists. Additionally, it requires these facilities to maintain a minimum of four doses of the opioid antagonist on-site.

The act is designed to enhance the preparedness of lifeguards and rangers in responding to opioid overdoses, thereby improving public safety at recreational areas. The new requirements will take effect immediately upon passage of the bill.
