The bill amends Section 31-10-31 of the General Laws regarding fees associated with operators' and chauffeurs' licenses. It introduces a new provision that exempts individuals who are aging out of foster care from paying the fee for their first operator's license until they reach the age of twenty-seven. This exemption applies to those defined as children under the foster care regulations until they transition out of that status. Additionally, the bill provides that these individuals will also be eligible for a fee waiver for driver's education classes at the Community College of Rhode Island, as required by 31-10-19(e). The fee waiver is in effect until the individual reaches twenty-seven (27) years of age. The act is set to take effect upon passage.
