The bill amends Section 11-67.1-20 of the "Uniform Act on Prevention of and Remedies for Human Trafficking" to require public and quasi-public transportation agencies to display a public-awareness sign containing the state and national human trafficking resource center hotline information at all transportation stations, rest areas, and welcome centers open to the public. Additionally, employers in specific sectors, including strip clubs, job-recruitment centers, and hospitals, are mandated to display this sign in a conspicuous location for both employees and the public. A penalty of $300 will be imposed on employers who fail to comply with this requirement.
Furthermore, the bill specifies that all monies assessed as fines for non-compliance will be deposited into the violent crimes indemnity account within the general fund, which is established for the purpose of paying awards granted under the criminal injuries compensation act. This act will take effect upon passage.
