The bill amends Section 11-67.1-20 of the "Uniform Act on Prevention of and Remedies for Human Trafficking" to mandate that public and quasi-public transportation agencies display a public-awareness sign containing human trafficking hotline information at various public locations. Additionally, employers in specific sectors, such as strip clubs, job-recruitment centers, and hospitals, are required to display this sign in a conspicuous manner. A penalty of $300 is imposed on employers who fail to comply with this requirement, and this fine is designated as the exclusive remedy for non-compliance.
Furthermore, the bill stipulates that all fines collected under this section will be deposited into the violent crimes indemnity account within the general fund, which is intended to support awards granted under the criminal injuries compensation act. The act is set to take effect immediately upon passage.
