The bill mandates that, starting January 1, 2026, all individual and group health insurance contracts, plans, or policies that provide prescription coverage in Rhode Island must include coverage for at least one type of glucagon auto-injector, nasal spray, or formulation that does not require reconstitution. This coverage will allow individuals to obtain two glucagon auto-injectors or equivalent formulations each year without any copayment or deductible. However, a deductible may be applied for health plans paired with federally qualified health savings accounts. The bill also specifies that nothing in this section would prohibit a health plan from implementing this benefit prior to January 1, 2026.
