This bill amends various chapters of the General Laws related to insurance policies, specifically focusing on the coverage of physical therapy services. It introduces a new section in Chapters 27-18, 27-19, 27-20, and 27-41, which stipulates that starting January 1, 2026, individual or group health insurance plans cannot impose a copayment, coinsurance, or office visit deductible for services rendered by licensed physical therapists that exceeds the amounts charged for similar services by primary care physicians or osteopaths. Additionally, insurers are required to clearly communicate the availability of physical therapy coverage, along with any limitations, conditions, and exclusions associated with it. The act will take effect upon its passage.
