This bill amends Chapter 39-18 of the General Laws entitled "Rhode Island Public Transit Authority" to create parity with MBTA commuter passes. The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) would consult with the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) to determine the feasibility of allowing commuter rail passes to be used on all RIPTA buses. The rail passes would serve as dual passes for both RIPTA and MBTA. The consultation would also include discussions on how to apportion and share the costs of the passes between the two authorities. This act would take effect upon passage.
